RSS strongly condemned Tushar Gandhi’s remarks

NEW DELHI/BANGALORE, January 30: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanngh (RSS) Wednesday strongly condemned the uncharitable remarks made by Tushar Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson about the organization ‘celebrating the Mahatma’s assassination’.
While the entire nation today was busy paying tributes to the martyrs on Martyrs’ Day today, Tushar Gandhi tweeted claiming ‘RSS was celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination’.
Taking strong exception to these utterly false propaganda RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya said in a statement issued today “Tushar Gandhi’s remarks are unacceptable, We condemn them. These remarks are false propaganda tantamount to tarnish the image of the RSS. Vandaniya Mahatma Gandhi wrote “Satya ke Prayog” while his grandson Tushar is spreading lies by making such remarks. He is propagating “Asatya ke Prayog”. The RSS always respected Mahatma Gandhi, his life and thoughts and concepts. Tushar’s remarks about RSS are nothing but spreading falsehood”.
Dr Vaidya quoted a telegram sent to Pt. Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Mahatma’s son Devdas Gandhi by the second RSS Sarsanghchalak the late M S Golwalkar alias Sri Guruji on January 30, 1948. The telegram said:
“30 January 1948
Shocked at the news of cruel fatal attack and tragic loss of greatest personality. Country's loss unbounded in these critical times. God help shoulder responsibilities grown heavier and fulfill the void caused by the loss of incomparable unifier.
 -M. S. Golwalkar”
Earlier this morning, Tushar Gandhi tweeted as “Nationwide the RSS was celebrating Bapu’s murder by distributing ‘Mithai’even before AIR made announcement.”
VSK Analysis: This not the first time that the allegation ‘RSS was behind Mahatma Gandhiji’s assassination’ was leveled against the organization. All such claims proved false and baseless. Even from the time of Pt. Nehru, RSS was victim for such slander and false propaganda. Following Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination in 1948, RSS was banned by the then Nehru government. Many prominent leaders of the RSS were arrested as the RSS was banned on 4 February 1948.
A Commission of Inquiry into the conspiracy to murder of Mahatma Gandhi was set up and its report was published by Ministry of Home Affairs in the year 1970. Accordingly Justice Kapur Commission noted the following:
…RSS as such were not responsible for the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, meaning thereby that one could not name the organization as such as being responsible for that most diabolical crime, the murder of the apostle of peace. It has not been proved that they (the accused) were members of the RSS… —Kapur Commission Report.
RSS Leaders were acquitted of the conspiracy charge by the Supreme Court of India and following an intervention by the Court, the then Government of India agreed to lift the ban with condition that the RSS adopted a formal constitution. The second Sarsanghachalak, M S Golwalkar drafted the constitution for the RSS which he sent to the government in March 1949. In July of the same year, after many negotiations over the constitution and its acceptance, the ban on RSS was lifted.
In 1934, during Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to RSS Camp accompanied by Mahadev Desai and Mirabehn at Wardha, he was surprised by the discipline and the absence of untouchability in RSS and commented: “When I visited the RSS Camp, I was very much surprised by your discipline and absence of untouchability.” He personally inquired from the Swayamsevaks about their castes and found that they were living and eating together in the camp without bothering to know their castes”.
On 15 January 2000, a daily, The Statesman, carried a story about the RSS by A G Noorani, which depicted the RSS as the killer of Gandhi. Subsequently the Delhi unit of the RSS filed a criminal case of defamation against author of the article A G Noorani along with the cartoonist and the Managing Director of the publishing house. When two of the accused did not respond to the Court summons, non-bailable warrants were issued in their name by the Court. On 25th February 2002, Noorani wrote an unconditional apology to the court in which he regretted writing the defamatory article against the RSS. On 3rd March 2002, ‘The Statesman’ also published an apology regretting the publication of the said article.
The Statesman said: “We had described the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh as “the organisation that killed Gandhi”. This was incorrect, and unsupported by both facts and the record. We express regrets for the publication and apologize unconditionally for the anguish and mental torture caused to members of the organization”.

Is Colonel Purohit guilty?

- RSN Singh

RSN Singh is a former military intelligence officer who later served in the Research and Analysis Wing, or R&AW
Date : 18 Jul , 2012

Lt Col Srikant Purohit Going by the selective and flip-flop leaks by the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra, and the manner in which the media is lapping it up, it appears that there is a concerted and rather a desperate bid to make an ‘Osama bin Laden’ out of Lt Col Purohit and prove that the Sadhavi Pragya and her accomplices are the new ‘Hindu Jehadis’.  The credulity of the general public is being stretched on various scores.

Firstly, the speed at which fresh revelations is being disseminated by the ATS on a daily basis, in complete disregard to professional propriety and in gross prejudice to the ongoing investigation.

Secondly, the unprecedented number of ‘Narco Tests’, the accused are being subjected to.

Thirdly, there is a total blank-out with regard to the version of the accused.

Fourthly, with every passing day, the network is being enlarged, as if to suggest that the entire country is being consumed by ‘Hindu Terrorism’, and has pan-Indian rather regional and global dimension.

The approach of ‘two wrongs make a right’ or ‘one wrong is equal to another wrong’ does not address the root causes of a problem.

Fifthly, if intercepts of some of the accused was available much prior to the blasts as suggested, then why no pre-emptive measures were taken.

Sixthly, no army representative has been included in the interrogation team.

Seventhly, the most intriguing aspect is the timing and the developing political tenor of the investigations i.e. during the eve of elections.

No two security problems especially those having religious and social overtones have the same character, motivation and orientation. Any attempt to draw parallels between terrorism of all kinds though politically beneficial can be counter-productive, and detracts the security agencies.

Each form of terrorism, whether home-grown or externally inspired—like Maoist, religious, social, secessionist, and political terrorism—has to be dealt on different planes. Even though, one terrorism feeds on another, the tendency to link various terrorisms, as is happening in the wake of ‘Malegaon case’, must at all costs be avoided.

This is not to say that the entire investigation process is a miscarriage of truth and justice. It was only expected that the chain of terrorist strikes across the nation over the years, wherein innocent people and the country’s integrity and economic interests have been targeted, would at some point of time provoke retaliatory measures in unknown ways. Although words like ‘retaliation’ or ‘reaction’ have become blasphemous in the present Indian context, it however cannot be wished away.

It is an exercise of responsible and perspicuous governance to ensure that the retaliatory susceptibilities are contained, rather given a positive direction. The approach of ‘two wrongs make a right’ or ‘one wrong is equal to another wrong’ does not address the root causes of a problem. It only contributes to creation of new undesirable elements and organizations, and further polarizes the society.
In my interactions with various segments of the society, the polarization inaftermath of ‘Malegaon blasts’ , appears to have grown more acute.

The  investigation following the ‘Malegaon blasts’, is extremely complex in nature due to the alleged involvement of an Army officer belonging to the Military Intelligence. The media therefore needs to be extremely cautious and circumspect about the manner in which it reports the briefs by the ATS. I have deep apprehension that the complete truth, as and when it unfolds in the future, could have several unsavoury and damaging twists.
The Colonel is a legitimate intelligence operative. Interaction with the police authorities, other intelligence agencies, desirable and undesirable elements was very much a part of his duty, without which no intelligence can be gathered and no counter-intelligence operation can be effected. No intelligence agency issues written orders in pursuance of intelligence operations. The entire system is based on trust and faith. It is yet to be established how much of disconnect is there between the legitimate and illegitimate activities of the officer during the course of his duty.

The level and extent of intelligence interaction and cooperation with other intelligence agencies that this officer had, is also not known. That is why, it was very important to have a representative of the Military Intelligence, when the interrogation of the officer began. To that extent, a state police organization is not only under-equipped but also out of sync with central intelligence agencies in dealing with an official of Military Intelligence.
There can be no greater travesty in the suggestion by certain quarters that the alleged involvement of Lt Col Purohit is symptomatic of a deeper malaise taking roots in the Indian Army. An officer of the Military Intelligence is not in direct command of troops.  He has only a small complement of personnel working under him.
A Military Intelligence officer is hardly competent in providing training on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Importantly, the nation must trust in the legal procedures of the Army, which is far more stringent. The Army will brook no ideology, which impacts on the established secular character and credentials of the organization.
As and when Lt Col Purohit is handed back to Army custody, it is inevitable that he will be meted out the appropriate punishment, if found guilty, notwithstanding any misplaced sense of patriotism that he may attempt to invoke. I would therefore request the media to be patient and for the time being spare the Army.

‘Yes, we spent money on paid news ads’

Confessions by politicians to EC belie claims of innocence by top newspapers

The political class is more honest than the media when it comes to ‘paid news’ during elections, judging by the fact that several poll candidates have owned up to this corrupt practice. At least, after the Election Commission and the Press Council of India shot off notices to them and held inquiries into the matter. They have acknowledged guilt by belatedly adding their “news” buying expenses to their election statement of accounts. Some candidates have accepted in writing that they bought what are now called, somewhat oxymoronically, “Paid News Advertisements.” But not a single one of the newspapers they say they gave their money to has accepted any wrongdoing. These are not just any papers. In readership terms, they include three top-ranked dailies.

In some cases, the battles are still on, involving both the politicians and newspapers concerned. On January 15, the EC found that Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Narottam Mishra “failed to lodge his accounts of his election expenses in the manner prescribed by law.” He faces possible disqualification. The EC’s notice to Dr. Mishra concerns 42 news items on him during the November 2008 state elections. These, it pointed out, “read more like election advertisement(s) in favour of you alone rather than (as) news reports.” The EC names four newspapers in its notice: Dainik Bhaskar, Nai Duniya, Aacharan and Dainik Datia Prakash. Dainik Bhaskar is the second most-read daily in the country.

Less than a month earlier, the Press Council of India held quite a few dailies guilty of doing much the same thing during the 2010 Bihar assembly polls. These include Dainik Jagran, the newspaper with the highest readership in the country. The others are Dainik Hindustan, Hindustan Times, Dainik Aaj and Purvanchal Ki Raahi. Also, Rashtriya Sahara, Udyog Vyapar Times and Prabhat Khabhar.

In many cases, the route to exposure followed the pattern set in the classic case of the former Congress Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan. His 2009 poll campaign for the State legislature drew scores of full pages of “news.” Not a single one of those pages ever mentioned the name of Madhav Kinhalkar, his rival for the Bhokar seat. In a 2009-10 investigation into paid news, The Hindu found a hagiographical article on Mr. Chavan appear word for word in three major rival publications. In two of them, on the same day, in all of them under different by-lines (The Hindu, Nov. 30, 2009).

The 2010 Bihar polls saw a similar pattern. This time, though, one paper came up with a truly novel defence. Same story in different papers? That’s not paid news, argues Udyog Vyapar Times. It submits that other newspapers “hack their computer site and publish the same news.” So what might look like paid news, contends Udyog Vyapar Times, is merely the outcome of desperate rivals hacking into the internal network of this Aligarh-based daily to steal their national exclusives.

How did the candidates issued ‘Paid News’ notices for the Bihar polls by the EC react? All but one seem to have accepted their guilt. According to the EC, they did so by simply adding “the expenditure included by them on account of these ‘news’ in their accounts of election expenses.” In fact, the District Election Officer of Muzaffarpur in Bihar stated flatly that the dailies had carried “news for payment.” He even had letters from the candidates owning up to buying “news.”

The Press Council of India, acting on the matter referred to it by the EC, issued show cause notices to Dainik Jagran, Dainik Hindustan, Hindustan Times et al, between July and September 2011. On December 21, 2012, the PCI, on the basis of its own inquiry committee’s report, got tough. Of the high-profile line-up, only Prabhat Khabhar escaped “the highest penalty” of the Press Council — censure — under Section 14 (1) of the Press Council Act of 1978. This was the only case where the paper and the candidate both firmly denied the charge. (In all the other cases, the candidates accepted they had purchased “news”.) And Prabhat Khabar’s own record — it has strongly campaigned against paid news — added weight to its defence. The paper offered to apologise if the EC produced proof of any such aberration. It was “cautioned for the future.”

All the other dailies denied the charges, too. But, as the PCI’s inquiry committee puts it, “in all these cases, the candidate in question admitted before the Election Commission of India that he paid for the impugned material.” These dailies were found “guilty of having carried news reports that were in fact self-promotion material provided by the candidate in the fray,” and so faced the highest penalty of censure.

So quite a few politicians seem willing to confess to their paid news sins. They face penalties, too. Just 16 months ago, the EC disqualified Umlesh Yadav, then sitting MLA from Bisauli in Uttar Pradesh, for a period of three years for failing to provide a “true and correct account” of her election expenses. She had skipped any mention of her spending on advertisements dressed up as news during her 2007 poll campaign. She was the first legislator ever to bite the dust on grounds of excessive expenditure (and paid news). Dr. Mishra, Health Minister in the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh, now faces charges of the kind that got her disqualified.

Ashok Chavan case

Oddly enough, the Ashok Chavan case, which triggered off a spate of such cases, is itself bogged down in both the EC and the Supreme Court. The case of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda is likewise held up in the courts. Judicial delays could have a serious and possibly adverse impact in the fight against Paid News in the 2014 general election.

But what action do habitual offenders in the media face? The Paid News Committee constituted by the Election Commission has concluded that those 42 “news items” involving Dr. Mishra “appear to be advertisements in the garb of news” and fall “within the definition of ‘Paid News’.” The Press Council defines Paid News as “any news or analysis appearing in any media (print or electronic) for a price in cash or kind as consideration.” A Press Council team appointed by PCI Chairperson Justice Katju found last month that Paid News had been rampant in Gujarat during the State polls there in December 2012.

So what happens where media outlets concerned are found guilty? Where the “highest penalty” is censure and that draws not even an apology? Of course, Paid News is not only about elections, though that’s where it does greatest damage to the greatest number. It is an everyday activity in much of the media. The cloying coverage that powerful corporations get routinely reeks of it. You can see it in some completely corporate “sporting” events or “partnerships.” Governments, too, buy “news” sometimes. You can see it at work in Davos, too. Who funds journalists and channels from India at that World Economic Forum event each year is worth looking at. But that’s another story. Watch this space.

True lies of Sushil Kumar Shinde

By S Gurumurthy
24th January 2013
"The RSS and the BJP were behind the Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blasts," declared Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on January 20, 2012, adding that the training camps run by the RSS and BJP were promoting 'Hindu terrorism'. A day after Shinde's declaration, Hafiz Saeed, leader of the LeT, the Pakistan-based Islamist terrorist outfit, called for a ban on the RSS. So Shinde is the witness for the LeT to accuse the RSS of terror. Now look at the evidence, first the blast onboard the Samjhauta Express from Pakistan in which 68 persons were killed.
LeT Culprit, say UN, US
"Qasmani Arif...chief coordinator of the relations of the [LeT] with other organisations...has worked with Lashkar-e-Tayyiba to facilitate terrorist attacks including...the bombing of February 2007 in the Samjhauta Express in Panipat (India)." This is what resolution [No 1267] of the Committee on Sanctions of the United Nations Security Council [UNSC] dated 29.6.2009 declares. Adding that Qasmani was funded by Dawood Ibrahim and he did the fundraising for the LeT and the al-Qaida, the UNSC said, "In exchange for their support, al-Qaida provided support staff for the February 2007 bombing of the Samjhauta Express in Panipat." This resolution is available on the UN site. Two days later, on July 1, 2009, the United States Treasury Department said in its press release: "Arif Qasmani has worked with the LeT to facilitate terrorist attacks, including...Samjota Express bombing." The US named four Pakistanis, including Arif Qasmani as terrorists, under Executive Order No 13224. This press release is still on the US Treasury site. The United Nations Security Council and the US Treasury Department thus named the LeT, Qasmani and Dawood Ibrahim as accused in Samjhauta terror. This is just the beginning of the torrent of evidence pointing to the LeT and Pakistan.
Pakistan Minister's Confession
Six months after the UN and US announced sanctions against the LeT and Qasmani, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Mallik himself admitted that Pakistani terrorists were involved in the Samjhauta blast, but with a rider that "some Pakistan-based Islamists had been hired by Lt Col Purohit to carry out the Samjhauta Express attack." [India Today Online 24.1.2010]
Headley Involved in Samjhauta -- US Probe
Not just the UN. Or the US Treasury. Or just the admission of Pakistan's Interior Minister. Independent investigation in the US revealed more. Some 10 months later, Sebastian Rotella, a US journalist, wrote in his investigative report titled 'U.S. agencies were forewarned about suspect in 2008 Mumbai bombings', that Faiza Outalha, the third wife of David Coleman Headley had confessed [in 2008, which was made public in 2010] that Headley was involved in the Samjhauta blast. Rotella added that Faiza felt that "she had been innocently used" in the Samjhauta terror. [The Washington Post 5.11.2010] A while later, in a follow up investigation, Sebastian Rotella disclosed in April 2008 that Faiza returned to the embassy in Islamabad with the tip about the 2008 Mumbai blast when she again  linked him to the Samjhauta blast.
Rotella commented that though India and the US blamed the attack on Lashkar, the US authorities had not implicated Headley in that still-unsolved attack, however.[The Washington Post 14.11.2010] So, independent, neutral probe in the US also pointed to Pakistan and the LeT in Samjhauta blast.
Narco Test Pointed to SIMI Role
Even at the start of the Samjhauta investigation in 2007, the evidence clearly pointed to the role of the Students Islamic Movement of India [SIMI] and the LeT. India Today [19.9.2008] in its report titled 'Pak hand in Mumbai train blasts, Samjhauta Express blasts, says Nagori' gave meticulous account of the involvement of the LeT and Pakistan in the Samjhauta terror. The report was based on narco test testimonies of SIMI leaders. India Today said that the narcotic tests were carried out on general secretary of SIMI, Safdar Nagori; his brother Kamruddin Nagori and Amil Parvez in Bangalore in April 2007, three months after the Samjhauta blast; the results of the narco test of the SIMI leaders were available with the magazine; it revealed that SIMI activists had executed the Samjhauta blast, with the help of the Pakistani nationals from across the border; while Nagori was not directly involved, two members of SIMI, Ehtesham Siddiqui and Nasir, were directly involved; SIMI members, including Nagori's brother Kamaruddin, were involved in the Samjhatua blast; for executing the Samjhauta blast, the Pakistanis had purchased the suitcase cover from Kataria Market in Indore and one of the members from SIMI had helped the Pakistanis to get the suitcase cover stitched. Investigation had established that in the Samjhauta blast, five bombs packed in suitcases and activated by timer switches were used.
Conspiracy by Maharashtra Police?
Why were these clinching pieces of evidence not pursued? How the blame shifted from the Islamists to the Hindus? Some elements in the Maharashtra Police appears to have colluded in linking the 2008 Malegaon blast to the Samjhauta blast. When leads were thus pointing to Pakistan and SIMI as partners in the Samjhauta blast in November 2008, as an  anti-climax, the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad [ATS] shockingly told the Special Court through the public prosecutor that Col Purohit allegedly involved in the Malegaon blast in which RDX was used, had supplied RDX for the Samjhauta blast though one 'Bhagwan'. [The Indian Express 15.11.2008] Within the next 48 hours, [17.11.2009] India Today online refuted the ATS claim saying that Samjhauta investigators had told India Today that a study of the blast by the National Security Guard(NSG) said that no RDX, but Potassium Chlorate and Sulphur, had been used as explosives. The magazine also recalled that immediately after the blasts, then Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil told the media that not RDX, but, a 'new type of explosive' had been used to bomb the Samjhauta Express. On that very day [17.11.2009] the ATS counsel retracted the statement he had made earlier involving Col Purohit in the Samjhauta blast. [The Hindu dt19.11.2008]. But the damage was done in the 48 hours. Immediately, Pakistan said that it would raise the issue of Purohit's involvement in Samjhauta at the Secretary-level meeting on November 25, 2008. Finally on January 20, 2009, the Maharashtra ATS officially denied that Col Purohit had supplied RDX for Samjhauta. This was how the Samjhauta focus -- later the blame -- shifted from the LeT and the SIMI to Purohit and via Purohit on to Saffron. The Maharashtra ATS' attempt to link Malegaon 2008 to Samjhauta, which shifted the focus away from the LeT on to Purohit, needs to be probed particularly given Dawood Ibrahim's deep influence on Maharashtra Police.
If Shinde is telling the truth, then the United Nations Security Council and the US Treasury Department are fabricating charges against Qasmani, Dawood and the LeT; Faiza Outallah and The Washington Post are telling lies to fix the LeT and Pakistan; the SIMI officials' narco evidence is fabricated; and Rehman Mallik's confession about Pakistani involvement is false. Can it be more ridiculous? It is clearly the lies of Shinde, the vote bank politician versus all neutral evidence. If this was how the Samjhauta probe was perverted, in the Malegaon 2006 blast the Maharashtra ATS has filed a chargesheet where the SIMI cadre had confessed to their role in the blast. But the CBI is procuring confessions to exonerate them and implicate others, Hindus in the case. So Malegaon 2006, is becoming a case of confession vs confession! In Malegaon 2008 blasts, Col Purohit and his associates have been charged and the evidence submitted in the Court shows that the accused in the Malegaon 2008 case were planning to assassinate RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Indresh Kumar for taking money from the ISI! [Outlook 19.7.2010] How could the RSS which is the target of the conspirator itself be the conspirator? Does Shinde know what he is talking?
QED: Shinde now has a good companion in his mission against the RSS in Hafeez Saeed, boss of the global terror outfit LeT. Can a Home Minister tell more deadly lies against his own country's interests, all for just a few million votes?

Sahakar Bharati’s National Conference concludes, Sathish Marathe re-elected as National President

Bangalore, January 19, 2013: The closing session of the 4th National Conference of Sahakar Bharati was held at National College Grounds, Bangalore. The valedictory address was delivered by Shri. Suresh Prabhu, veteran co-operator and former Union Minister. This was followed by blessings conferred by Dr. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Shri Kshetra, Dharmasthala.
Sathish Marathe, National President of Sahakar Bharati delivering the inaugural address.
Sathish Marathe, National President of Sahakar Bharati delivering the inaugural address.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Veerendra Heggade said that the audience at the conference represented the true face of Bharat Mata. “Real India is seen here. People from all parts of the country have gathered here, without any divisive feelings, with the sole spirit of being the children of Bharat Mata. This dedication is what has contributed to the betterment of the nation. This dedication should continue to contribute towards national growth as well.”
“We had a glorious past. But in between we suffered at the hands of foreigners, who treated us in the worst possible manner. But after the freedom struggle, after we became independent, we have been the envy of many of our neighbouring countries. But the way we have stood up, united, has ensured that we are never down cast.” said Dr Heggade.
Coming to the topic of Sahakar Bharati, Dr. Heggade gave the example of Campco, which has been a colossal relief for farmers from Karnataka and Kerala. Campco has been a pioneer in bringing forth innovative methods of farming and methods of cultivation. He also made a mention of the NGO (Sri Dharmasthala Grameenabhivruddhi Yojane) under him, working towards Grameena Vikas. “I share this experience because we are close to the co operative movement. The NGO has 2400000 self help groups. Our aim is making the farmers self sufficient and catering to women empowerment. Our slogan:  Be Partners in Progress, says it all. The message we convey is this- search for the avatara within yourself, to rescue your own self, instead of waiting for an external hand. This will help in real development, where as any dependence on others will lead to stunted growth.”
“Co operative movement has made micro-financing a successful feature, where every person , however poor he is, is entitled for a loan. Therefore our aim is to make every member of the society, a member of the movement. For this, we request the Ministry of Rural Development to recognize the programme as their own. We request the heads of these movements to conduct personal visits to villages and see for themselves the condition of the villages and empathize with them, so as to help them the best possible way.” said Dr Heggade.
Earlier, delivering the final address, Shri. Suresh Prabhu likened the audience to the gathering at Kumbh Mela. “It is heartening to see the entire crowd that was present on the first day remaining throughout the 3 days, right till the end of the programme. This has been made possible only because of the commitment of each person towards Sahakar Bharati. It is only because of the dedication and loyalty shown by the co operators that Sahakar Bharati has branched out so successfully. Let us make it our goal to fill up these gaps successfully.”

“The accomplishment of co operators is not because of a legal aspect, but because of the ideology and philosophy behind it. The presence of the soul behind its implementation and execution is what has contributed to its success. Aid from the government and the sacrificial attitude of noble souls have also gone a long way into the success of Sahakar Bharati.”
“The current scenario in India is that a person with least income has to pay maximum tax, where as giant industrial groups have been known to have successfully evaded tax payment for several years at a stretch,” said Shri. Prabhu, observing that the present government at the centre seemed to measure progress by the number of people possessing a mobile phone. “We must find ways of catering to the basic needs of people, along with facilitating electricity, water and health at village level. Sahakar Bharati must have this as the aim, along with the promotion of Samskaar in every nook and corner of the nation.”
The programmes connected with the closing session began at 3.30 pm, with a Sahkar song. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Manjunath Gowda. The introductory address was given by Shri. Satish Marathe, National President of Sahakar Bharati.

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY DR. MANMOHAN VAIDYA, AKHIL BHARATIYA PRACHAR PRAMUKH OF RSS,

Mumbai January 22, 2013:

Dr Manmohan Vaidya. Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh RSS
Dr Manmohan Vaidya. Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh RSS
The allegation made by Shri Susheel Kumar Shinde, Union Home Minister, on 20 th Jan. at the Chintan Shibir of Congress Party at Jaipur that “the terrorist training is imparted at the camps of RSSBJP” is totally false, baseless, irresponsible and politically motivated one. Rashtriy Swayamsevak Sangh
(RSS) refutes this highly deplorable charge of the Home Minister and strongly condemns the same. Terrorism is deplorable which should be sternly countered. By labeling terrorism as “Hindu terrorism” the Home Minister and the Congress Party have severely insulted the entire Hindu society which has a global reputation of living with peace and amity. Also by calling it “saffron terrorism” they have humiliated the most revered “Sanyasi” tradition of Bharat. RSS demands the Home Minister and the Congress party to tender unconditional apology to Hindu Society for their unfounded and objectionable
charges.
While the entire nation is struggling to counter the Pak-sponsored extremism, and is losing the precious lives of brave security personnel in this fight, the immature and irresponsible statements by the Union Home Minister has not only boosted the morale of the Paki terrorists but also unfortunately demoralized our security men, and thereby weakened our fight against terrorism at the international level. The RSS takes strong exception to this blunder committed by of the Home Minister.
While the investigation of some of the terror acts is in progress the conclusion of which is still awaited, the misleading statement of the Home Minister is a politically motivated conspiracy to influence the very process of investigation. This is extremely objectionable that deserves to be condemned
by all.
The Home Minister’s statement has deeply hurt the feelings of millions of countrymen. RSS, therefore, appeals to all the patriotic people of the nation to actively participate in the country wide demonstrations called on 24 th January to protest against the unpatriotic stance of the Home Minister and create
pressure on him and the Congress Party to apologize for their lapse

Dr Togadia’s 6 Questions to all political parties

New Delhi, January 22, 2013
Taking a jibe at the Union Home Minister’s claim of ‘Hindu Terrorism’. Dr Pravin Togadia, VHP International Working President asked 6 Questions:
1.      Who gave any political party or its representative any right – legal or constitutional – to term Hindus as Terrorist by using the term in public as ‘Hindu Terrorism’ & thereby hurting all Hindus’ sentiment?
2.      In many cases of Jehadi terrorism, many political parties’ workers have been arrested / convicted. E.g. In Mumbai 1993 serial blasts, Congress MP’s brother Sanjay Datt is a convict with appeal pending in upper court; in another Mumbai blast Youth Congress worker has been arrested; some from SP & some from other parties have been arrested. The cases are subjudice or under investigation. Why shouldn’t their political parties be termed as promoting “Islamic Terror’?
3.      The statement made by the Union Home Minister has been made while he still is the sitting Home Minister with power. Many cases of terrorism are under investigation or subjudice. He saying, ‘Many innocent Muslim Youth have been wrongly arrested in terrorism cases. BJP, RSS in their training camps promote Hindu Terrorism’ is a serious proclamation by the constitutional authority that is Home Minister. This surely influences Judiciary & the investigating agencies thereby depriving arrested Hindus a free & fair trial as promised by Bharat’s Constitution & also putting all Hindus in danger of getting implicated in any such cases or even killed by the other religion people with blessings from the Home Minister. The question is: Why should the Hon’ble Supreme Court not take suo moto note of this obvious violation of constitutional right of Hindus?
4.      Hindus have been contributing to the nation’s safety & security for ages. Now they are in majority in Bharat’s Army, police, CISF, BSF & other security forces. They give their lives for the nation. Recently Soldiers Hemraj & Sudhakar Sing ji were brutally killed, one of them beheaded by Pakistan. Rather than taking stern measures on Pakistan & Bangla Desh, the Govt is busy terming Hindus ‘Terrorists’! What action the Govt would take on the person who has demoralized all Hindus in the security agencies by saying such things?
5.      In many Jehadi attack cases, police from various states put their own lives to danger; the Govt pleaders too are at risk of their lives for making cases like 26/11 so tight that Kasab had to be hanged whereas Afzal Guru hanging is pending. All the while family members of the arrested Jehadis keep claiming innocence of their kin. Now with the HM statement, police investigating the matters will all the time be scared of being targeted by such family members. Who gave the right to the ruling party at the center to side the logic given by jehadi organizations by specifically terming “Minority youth innocent’ & ‘Hindus Terrorists’?
6.      The final question: What action will the Hon’ble Supreme Court take on such a blatant violation of constitution by the ruling political party?
Dr Togadia further said, “Congress has always been anti-Hindu. Now they are using the power to implicate Hindus in terrorism to appease their Muslim vote bank & therefore obviously, Jehadi Hafiz Sayeed congratulates the party for persecuting Hindus. The issue is insulting 100 Crore Hindus by terming them Terrorists. Hindus will never forgive the political parties who any which ways persecute them implicating them in terrorism cases be it the central Govt or any state Govt.”  Dr Togadia said that he would soon release the list of the so called cases given to NIA by various state Govts who purposely want to implicate Hindus in terror cases.

Forgotten blood

Ravi Shankar

Some massacres are more equal than the other. On the 15th anniversary of a discounted genocide, and the brutal displacement of more than 300,000 Indians, the voices of copyright conscience stay schtum. One pogrom doesn’t justify the other, but selective mourning only discredits the liberal cause.

On each anniversary of the 2001 Gujarat riots, Ahmedabad becomes the destination of a secular pilgrimage. But none of the mourners have ever taken the bus to Wandhama. In this forgotten town, there are no forlorn photographs on ruined, fire-scarred walls; no macabre ghost stories to tell on television; and no candles burn in the memory of those who perished there on January 25, 1983, during Shab-e-Qadr, the holiest night of the month of Ramzan. This week, 30 years ago, 23 Kashmiri pundits—four children, nine women and 10 men—were gunned down with Kalashnikovs by the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), funded and trained by Pakistan. This was an omen of darker times to come. Seven years later, on January 4, 1990, the HuM—created by Jamaat-e-Islami to wage jihad against India and make Kashmir a part of Pakistan—issued a warning through the Urdu press, demanding that all Hindus leave Kashmir. As the government of the flamboyant, pleasure-loving chief minister Farooq Abdullah cowered in Srinagar, Kalashnikov-wielding jihadis went on the rampage against pundits. Loudspeakers in mosques throughout Kashmir played the slogans: ‘Yahan kya chalega, Nizam-e-Mustafa (What do we want here? The rule of Shariah)’, and ‘Asi gachchi Pakistan, batao roas te batanev san (We want Pakistan along with Hindu women but without their men)’. At that time Chandra Shekhar was the prime minister, who was propped up by a Kashmiri pundit, Rajiv Gandhi. During this time, all Kashmiris were forced by Pak-sponsored terrorists to re-set their watches to Pakistan Standard Time.

For the 300,000-odd Kashmiri pundits—or 90 per cent of their population, largely living in refugee camps in Jammu and Delhi—it is still Pakistan Standard Time; the hour of horror has never ended. None from Amnesty International or Asia Watch has bothered to visit the squalid camps. One hundred and five Hindu-owned educational institutions were destroyed, 103 Hindu religious institutions—temples and ashrams—were burnt down, 14, 430 shops and businesses owned by pundits were looted and occupied, more than 1,100 of them were raped and murdered, and 20,000 pundit homes were set on fire. According to historian Kaia Leather’s Kashmiri Separatists: Origins, Competing Ideologies and Prospects for Resolution of the Conflict, around 400,000 Kashmiri Pundits fled their homeland—where they had lived for more than five centuries—and ethnic violence killed more than 30,000. Another historian Rebecca Knuth noted that secessionist groups raped, tortured and killed thousands of Kashmiri pundits. From 1983 until January 19, 1990, the ethnic cleansing of Indian citizens continued in Kashmir.

In Jaipur, where the Congress party speaks of preserving its secular agenda and votebanks, there is no mention of this bloodied little dot on the map of India’s most-troubled state. Because Kashmiri pundits are not a votebank, neither for the Congress party nor for Omar Abdullah, who has been asking them to return home,  promising their safety or security. How a chief minister,  who cannot guard a sarpanch from fundamentalist bullets, will protect Kashmiri pundits is a conundrum that taunts history as a grim joke.

India, traditionally, is a communally tolerant society. Today there is anger, both among the public and the Indian Army at Pakistani brutality. Our politicians may have papered over the rage with sanctimonious speeches on peace. The ghosts of war, however, dictate the relationship between the neighbours. But the ghosts of peace remain to be exorcised. As long as a holocaust perpetrated on Indian soil by Pakistan remains unaddressed, the ability of the Indian state to protect its citizens will continue to be mocked. And no Chintan Shivir is going to change that.

‘Wahabi’ Islam gaining ground in the country

The ultra-conservative brand of  ‘Wahabi’ Islam  has lately managed to find more takers among the country’s Muslim community, thanks to the efforts of  the Wahabi  preachers who constitute a major chunk of the over 20,000 foreign Islamic preachers that descend on Indian shores every year to preach at huge congregations in the hinterland.
In fact, a quarter of the preachers hailing from at least 25 countries are from neighbouring Pakistan and they move about in Tablighi Jamaats, according to intelligence and police sources. The Indian visa regime does not allow entry to Pakistani nationals if they do not have local sponsors and also bars entry to  preachers of faith. Hence,  all the scholars travel on a tourist visa.
The invites to the Pakistani Islamic scholars are extended by various well- known Islamic organisations likeTableeghi Jamaat Nizamuddin Markaz, Islamic Research Foundation, Ahl-e-Hadis and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind among others.
Meanwhile, the Wahabis, who trace their origin to Saudi Arabia and preach a purer form of Islam, are not new to the country and they had even participated in the ‘Gadar’ of 1857. But their numbers have seen a significant rise in recent years.
It is believed that almost 20 per cent of the nearly 20 crore Muslims in India today follow the Wahabi edict. Significantly, the number of Wahabis in the country was less than 10 per cent  a decade ago. Incidentally, the Deoband University and the Nizamuddin Markaz  subscribe to Wahabi school.
The Tablighi Jamaat has also been actively increasing its influence in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, UP and Gujarat. Though Bhopal has a tradition of holding Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema (world conference) which attracts at least 10 lakh faithful every year,Tabligh now wants to hold similar Ijtemas in Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Hyderabad.Tabhlighis now also control the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and most Wakf boards, which had suffered a backlash even from moderate Muslims.
Syed Mohammad Ashraf of the All-India Ulema and Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) believes that “petro dollars are weaning away the Indian Muslims” and the government seems to be doing little about the 80 per cent Muslims who believe in a more Sufi influenced Indian form of Islam. And  Arshad Alam a former professor at the Jamia Millia Islamia University believes that it is leading to the “obliteration of ethnic identity of Muslims”.
The influx of scholars has also led to invites to moderate Pakistani preachers like Tahirul Qadri -- a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. Known for his strong stand against Islamist terrorism,  Qadri’s address to congregations in Baroda, Hyderabad and Raipur last year had been opposed by the Tablighis.

इमाम बुखारी की गुंडागर्दी के सामने असहाय दिल्ली पुलिस

http://www.vikalpseva.org/2013/01/imam-bukhari-terror-in-delhi.html
