Puja in govt offices won’t hurt secularism: HC

CHENNAI: Is conducting Ayudha Puja or Saraswathi Puja in government offices a non-secular activity deserving to be banned? 'No', the Madras high court has ruled.

"Showing respect to the place of work and the objects of work will in no way offend the feelings of others or affect secularism. Ayudha Puja is referable to prayer, reverence or respect given to objects through which an individual performs his profession or occupation. Ayudha Puja in its real terms transcends all religion," a division bench of Justice R Sudhakar and Justice Aruna Jagadeesan has said.

Dismissing a public interest writ petition, which sought a direction to the government to prohibit "all sorts of religious activities within the precincts of government offices", the bench said an individual showing respect to his occupational tools cannot be said to offend the secular nature of the state.

"Irrespectvie of religion, Ayudha Puja is a reverence shown by cobblers, weavers, farmers, autorickshaw drivers, rickshaw-pullers, carpenters, shopkeepers, chartered accountants, advocates, doctors etc., to objects which they use to earn their livelihood," Justice Sudhakar, who wrote the judgment for the bench, observed.

Similarly, Saraswathi Puja is referable to showing respect to education, knowledge and the script, the judge said, adding: "The form of worship or veneration to files and records at the close of the working day preceding the Ayudhua Puja or Saraswathi Puja holidays cannot be called as religious activity by the government, affecting the secular nature of the state."

The judges pointed out that Ayudha Puja and Saraswathi Puja fall on holidays and it could not be concluded that it was the state which performed these pujas at office. "In government offices, if an individual shows respect and reverence to the materials, books, files or records which are being handled by the individual, it will be referable to his individual freedom and there is nothing to show that it affects the secular nature of the state."

The petitioner, S P Muthuraman, cited a government order issued in 1993 and a circular dated April 22, 2010 to seek a ban on religious activities in government offices. In December 1993, a government order said no construction of any new structure for religious worship or prayer within the office campus or modification of any existing structure should be permitted. This was reiterated by a division bench order of the high court in March 2010. It was following the HC order that in April 2010 the government sent the circular.

Justice Sudhakar, however, pointed out that the government order and the circular related to construction and enlargement of structures within government office complexes and had nothing to do with an individual's right to offer puja for the place of work or tools. An individual's right to freedom of conscience is permitted in Article 25 of the Constitution, he said, adding: "If the relief sought for by the petition is accepted, it is likely to cause disharmony among various groups."

When Oprah was young, her grandmother's only wish for her was that she'd manage to get a maid's job with ‘some good white folks'.

Today, Oprah Winfrey is one of the most recognisable faces in the world, a much loved and admired talk show host and a woman who has touched the lives of millions of people.

On the third day of the Jaipur Literature Festival, Oprah Winfrey was in conversation with Barkha Dutt, for the session, “‘O': Oprah in Jaipur.” Thronged with people who had been queuing up for seats since the early hours of the morning, the session lasted an hour, and gave the fans a glimpse into the life and mind of a woman who has proved her worth against all odds.

Asked about the one thing that struck her about India, Oprah told Ms. Dutt that there were, in fact, three. ‘My first impression was that of chaos! And then, I started noticing the underlying calm.' The other thing she admired and respected was the all-pervasive sense of karma and spirituality. “People here don't just talk religion, they live it.”

Born in a poor family in Mississippi, Oprah admits that childhood experiences amidst racial segregation and prejudice, coupled with dire poverty, were a big influence on who she is today. Early in her childhood, she developed a personal relationship with God, something which became the fundamental reason why she could hold on to her sense of self. ‘It made me believe that there was something greater than my front yard.'

Another thing that struck her as wonderful was the Indian sense of family and tradition. ‘I remember asking Abhishek and Aishwarya [Bachchan] on my show, I asked them — How do you still live with your parents, what's that all about? And Abhishek replied, ‘How do you not — what's that all about?' It's a glorious thing that in this country, families take care of each other.'

This is her first visit to India, and already, Oprah has seen the paradoxes that make it a ‘complex and contradictory' country. She has visited families in the slums of Mumbai, dined with the glitterati and royalty and stayed at an ashram with widows in Vrindavan. ‘I met an 11-year-old girl in the slums, and it was all I could do to not take her home with me. She lives in a tiny space with her parents and siblings with barely any space, but she is the star of her class and wants to become a teacher.'

‘I came here with an open mind and an expanded heart', she says, ‘And it has been one of the greatest life experiences for me. It makes you feel like you are in the centre of something bigger and greater than yourself. Your humanity is expanded in a way that won't be possible in any other place.' This trip to India has been on the cards for quite some time, says Oprah. ‘I have this vision board in my house. The first vision board I had simply said Obama for President. The second one had a picture of a woman on a camel, and it said, ‘Come to India'.

The Oprah Winfrey Show ran for 25 seasons, and made her a household name in countries all over the world. She sees it as her responsibility to be a connector to the human heart and it was post an interview with the skinheads of the Ku Klux Klan that she also began to see her show as a platform. Over the years, Oprah has worked on various projects, including dedicating a large part of her time to seeking justice for sexual abuse victims, opening a school for girls in South Africa and supporting and founding various charities across the world. ‘I believe that you are not what happens to you, but what is possible for you. The one way to expand and enrich your life in this world is by sharing what you have.'

Oprah confessed that she hadn't quite known if her show was aired in India. ‘Now, I know it is' she said, at the festival venue bursting at the seams with her fans. ‘Will you come back,' asked Ms. Dutt, to which, Oprah replied with a simple but definitive ‘Yes'.

Justice A.K.Ganguly's speech on Corruption

[The following are excerpts from the Supreme Court Judge Justice A.K.Ganguly's speech at the  release of the book on Corruption and Human Rights in India written by C.Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the O.P.Jindal Global University, and published by OUP on August 5. I really feel honoured to be before you this evening in connection with the book release on a topic of great social relevance. If I may say so, Prof. Raj Kumar could not have timed it better. (laughter).  It reminds us of the great cricketers – the Indian cricketers – they have a great sense of timing. I think Prof. Raj Kumar has done the same thing. He has traced the history relating to corruption in society right from Kautilya down to this latter day ongoing debate on Lokpal Bill.  Well, I am still a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court where I have some restraints of the office. But as a student of law, I really feel that there is no substance in the debate that the Prime Minister should be outside the Bill.  If Lokpal Bill is meant for introducing scrutiny in the affairs of those who are holding a public office, nobody will dispute the position that the Prime Minister is holding a public office. Anyone holding a public office cannot shy away from public scrutiny.  As far as I know from the newspaper reports, the Prime Minister himself is willing to come under the scrutiny.  The more attempt is made to take him out of the purview of the bill, the entire effort will become more and more suspect. That is my view as a student of law. 

Now, the debate which is going on today on eliminatng corruption is a debate which is made, if I may say so, without proper appreciation of the ground realities.  Now, what is corruption?  Prof. Raj Kumar has attempted to define it. At the same time, he says it is difficult, it is incapable of precise definition.  Corruption is an attitude of life. It is a particular mental frame. A perverted mental frame. Corruption has a very strong presence in our social life.

At every stage, there is an element of corruption.  Every case of helplessness is a result of a corrupt act on the part of somebody else.  And the voiceless people. They hardly count. The legal framework which is there under our laws does not touch them.

Corruption is very deep-rooted. In our society, a corrupt man is unfortunately offered a successful life. Let us accept this as the position. A corrupt man is not a social outcast. He is most of the time a hero, a leader.

The law is called Prevention of Corruption Act. To my mind, I am not talking as a Judge, it is apt to say Preservation of Corruption Act.  There is a very important provision in this Act. Unless there is a sanction you cannot proceed against the corrupt official.  Who is to give this sanction to prosecute? It is said that if this protection is not given, the courts will be flooded with frivolous cases of corruption.   So we are not being sincere on eliminating corruption. 

Look at the effect of corruption. Today the right to development is considered as a basic human right. Corruption means what? An undue advantage. What is due to me is denied to me. There is a recurrent theme in our Constitution. The theme is Constitutional governance. Article 37 says the Directive Principles are not enforceable by the Courts, but are fundamental in the governance of the State. Then the Fundamental Duties. Constitution has emphasized that if you want to make the Constitutional promise, this country  must proceed on the basis of constitutional governance, which is not only your right, but also your duty.  Therefore, I have the feeling that if the act of corruption is unconstitutional per se, whenever somebody is acting in a corrupt way, it has to be tackled very seriously. But who is to do that?

 I am happy that Prof. Raj Kumar has also talked about corruption in the judiciary.  He has referred to recent cases of impeachment.  But in the next edition, he may kindly correct that Justice Dinakaran is not from Sikkim High Court, but basically from Madras High Court.  Both the learned Judges referred to, I cannot defend them.  I feel sorry for them.  If the Judges of the High Court today are accused of this kind of things, then what will happen to elimination of corruption?   Even then I appreciate the candour and the courage with which Prof. Raj Kumar has attempted this book.   This is a very valiant effort.

संघ अछूत है क्या ?

यूंपीए – 2 के मंत्रीगण एवं कांग्रेस पार्टी के कार्यकर्त्ता अपना विवेक खो बैठे हैं परिणामतः बार – बार एक देशभक्त संगठन राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के ऊपर अपने शब्दों के माध्यम से कुठाराघात करते रहते है ! इनकी आखों पर राजनीति की ऐसी परत चढी है कि समाज को बांटने के लिए संघ को कभी “भगवा आतंकवाद” से संबोधित करते है तो कभी “फासिस्ट संगठन” की संज्ञा देते हैं ! कांग्रेस के नेता हिटलर के प्रचार मंत्री गोयबेल्स के दोनों सिद्धांतो पर चलते है ! मसलन एक – किसी भी झूठ को सौ बार बोलने से वह सच हो जाता है ! दो – यदि झूठ ही बोलना है, तो सौ गुना बड़ा बोलो ! इससे सबको लगेगा कि बात भले ही पूरी सच न हो; पर कुछ है जरूर ! इसी सिद्धांतों पर चलते हुए कांग्रेसी हर उस व्यक्ति की आड़ में संघ को बदनाम करने कोशिश करते है जो देशहित की बात करता है ! मसलन कभी अन्ना हजारे जी की ओट में संघ पर हमला करते है तो कभी बाबा रामदेव और श्री श्री रविशंकर जी की ओट में संघ पर तीखा प्रहार करने से भी नहीं गुरेज करते ! अन्ना जी की अगुवाई में भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ देश में बने जनमानस की हवा निकालने के लिए सरकार बार – बार संघ का हाथ होने का दावा करती है ! कभी किसी चित्र का हवाला देती है तो कभी संघ के किसी कार्यक्रम में अन्ना जी की उपस्थिति का पोस्टमार्टम करती है ! इसकी आड़ में वे राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ को लपेटने के चक्कर में हैं, जिसकी देशभक्ति तथा सेवा भावना पर विरोधी भी संदेह नहीं करते ! भारत में स्वाधीनता के बाद भी अंग्रेजी कानून और उसकी मानसिकता बदस्तूर जारी है ! इसीलिए कांग्रेसी नेता आतंकवाद को मजहबों में बांटकर इस्लामी,ईसाई आतंकवाद के सामने ‘भगवा आतंक’ का शिगूफा कांग्रेसी नेता छेड़ कर देश की जनता को भ्रमित करने नाकाम कोशिश करते है !

जो सभ्यता पूरे विश्व के कल्याण का उदघोष करती हो और उस सभ्यता का जोरदार समर्थन करने वाले लोगों को बदनाम करने की साजिश वर्तमान सरकार की नियत को दर्शाता है ! भारतीय चिंतन में ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:’ की भावना और भोजन से पूर्व जीव-जंतुओं के लिए भी अंश निकालने का प्रावधान है। ‘अतिथि देवो भव’ का सूत्र तो अब शासन ने भी अपना लिया है !

खुद कमाओ खुद खाओ यह प्रकृति है , दूसरा कमाए तुम छीन कर खाओ यह विकृति है और खुद कमाओ दूसरे को खिलाओ यह भारतीय संस्कृति है ! परन्तु तथाकथित वैश्वीकरण अर्थात ग्लोब्लाईजेशन के इस दौर में अपने को अधिक आधुनिक कहलाने की होड़ के चक्कर में व्यक्ति जब अपनी पहचान, अपने राष्ट्रीय स्वाभिमान, अपने मूल्यों तथा अपनी संस्कृति से समझौता करने को आतुर हो तो ऐसे विकट समय में अपने देश की ध्वजा-पताका थामे अगर कोई भारत में भारतीयता की बात करता हो तो उसे बदनाम करने के लए तरह – तरह के हथकंडे अपनाये जाते है ! क्या स्वतंत्र भारत में भारतीयता की बात करना गुनाह है ? आज भारत अनेक आतंरिक कलहों से जूझ रहा है ! देश में कही आतंकवाद अपने चरम पर है तो कही पर नक्सलवाद ! बंगलादेशी घुसपैठ सबको विदित ही है ! कृषि – प्रधान कहलाने वाले देश में कृषक आत्म हत्या को मजबूर हो रहा है ! वनवासियों, झुग्गी-झोपड़ियों अथवा गरीबों की सेवा के नाम पर उन्हें चिकित्सा,शिक्षा आर्थिक मदद देकर अथवा आतंकवादियों द्वारा प्रायोजित लव-जेहाद ( आतंकवादी हिन्दू लड़कियों को अपने प्रेमजाल में फंसाकर उनसे शादी कर उन्हें मतांतरित करते है और बाद में उन्हें तलाक देकर नए शिकार की तलाश में जुट जाते है ! ) के माध्यम से हजारो बालिकाओं को धर्मांतरण करने पर मजबूर किया जाता है !

दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के स्नातक की पुस्तक में करोडो भारतीयों के इष्ट देवी – देवताओं पर अभद्र टिप्पणियां कर विद्यार्थियों को पढने पर मजबूर किया जाता है ! भारत पर हर तरफ से चाहे वह शिक्षा का क्षेत्र हो ,सेवा का क्षेत्र हो, राजनीति का क्षेत्र हो, ग्रामीण क्षेत्र हो हर तरफ से लगभग भारतीय संस्कृति और सभ्यता पर लगातार हमला हो रहा है ! राजनैतिक पार्टियाँ बस अपने स्वार्थ-पूर्ति में ही लगी रहती है कोई पार्टी जाति के नाम पर वोट मांगती है तो कोई किसी विशेष समुदाय को लाभ पहुचाने के लिए उन्हें कोटे के लोटे से अफीम चटाने का काम करती है ! परन्तु राष्ट्रीयता की बात संघ विचार धारा की पार्टी अर्थात भारतीय जनता पार्टी को छोड़कर कोई नहीं करता ! हिन्दी भाषा पर तो अंग्रेजी भाषा ने लगभग कब्ज़ा ही कर लिया है ! कोई राज्य “गीता” पर प्रतिबंध लगा देता है तो कोई राष्ट्रीय गीत “वन्देमातरम” के गाने पर विरोध जताता है ! आज भ्रष्टाचार का हर तरफ बोलबाला है परन्तु बावजूद इसके सरकार को इस समस्या से ज्यादा चिंता इस बात की है कि भार्स्त्चार के खिलाफ आवाज बुलंद करने वाले के पीछे कही संघ तो नहीं है ! क्या संघ के लोग इस देश के नागरिक नहीं है ? क्या संघ के लोग भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ आवाज नहीं उठा सकते ? संघ अछूत है क्या ? ज्ञातव्य है कि देश के कई राज्यों में इस विचारधारा को मानने वाली राजनैतिक पार्टी अर्थात भारतीय जनता पार्टी के मुख्यमंत्री है ! “बाटों और राज्य करो” की नीति को मानने वाली राजनैतिक पार्टी “कांग्रेस” जिसकी अभी केंद्र में सरकार है, अगर वह संघ के लोगों को देशभक्त नहीं मानती तो संघ पर बैन क्यों नहीं लगा देती !

किसी प्रसिद्ध चिन्तक ने कहा है कि जो कौमें अपने पूर्वजों को भुला देती है वो ज्यादा दिन तक नहीं चलती है ! परन्तु राजनेताओं पर राजनीति का ऐसा खुमार चढ़ा है अपनी सस्ती राजनीति चमकाने के चक्कर में देश की अखंडता के साथ खिलवाड़ करने से भी बाज नहीं आते ! जम्मू-कश्मीर के अलगाववादी दिल्ली में खुले आम देश की अखंडता को चुनौती देकर चले जाते है और किसी के कानो पर जूं तक नहीं रेंगती ! पिछले दिनों अमरीका में ‘कश्मीर अमेरिकन सेंटर’ चलाने वाले डा0 गुलाम नबी फई तथा उसका एक साथी पकड़े गये हैं, जो कुख्यात पाकिस्तानी संस्था आई.एस.आई के धन से अवैध रूप से सांसदों एवं अन्य प्रभावी लोगों से मिलकर कश्मीर पर पाकिस्तान के पक्ष को पुष्ट करने का प्रयास (लाबिंग) करते थे ! कश्मीर की स्थिति लगातार चिंताजनक बनी है ! इस बारे में देश को जागरूक करने के लिए कश्मीर विलय दिवस (26 अक्तूबर) को 2010 में शाखाओं पर तथा सार्वजनिक रूप से लगभग 10,000 कार्यक्रम हुए ! ग्राम्य विकास में लगे कार्यकर्ताओं का सम्मेलन कन्याकुमारी तथा मथुरा में हुआ ! हिन्दू आतंकवाद के नाम पर किये जा रहे षड्यन्त्र के विरोध में 10 नवम्बर, 2010 को देश भर में 750 से अधिक स्थानों पर हुए धरनों में करोड़ों लोगों ने भाग लिया।

संघ एक अनुशासित तथा शांतिप्रिय संगठन है और उसका काम “व्यक्ति निर्माण” का है ! संघ को समझने के लिए बहुत दूर जाने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती ! देश भर में हर दिन सुबह-शाम संघ की लगभग 50,000 शाखाएं सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर लगती हैं ! इनमें से किसी में भी जाकर संघ को समझ सकते हैं ! शाखा में प्रारम्भ के 40 मिनट शारीरिक कार्यक्रम होते हैं ! बुजुर्ग लोग आसन करते हैं, तो नवयुवक और बालक खेल व व्यायाम ! इसके बाद वे कोई देशभक्तिपूर्ण गीत बोलते हैं ! किसी महामानव के जीवन का कोई प्रसंग स्मरण करते हैं और फिर भगवा ध्वज के सामने पंक्तियों में खड़े होकर भारत माता की वंदना के साथ एक घंटे की शाखा सम्पन्न हो जाती है ! संघ के ऊपर प्रायः आरोप लगता रहा है कि उसने स्वाधीनता संग्राम में भाग नहीं लिया, जबकि संघ के संस्थापक डा0 हेडगेवार ने जंगल सत्याग्रह में भाग लेकर एक साल का सश्रम कारावास वरण किया था ! चूंकि उन दिनों कांग्रेस आजादी के संघर्ष में एक प्रमुख मंच के रूप में काम कर रही थी, अतः संघ के हजारों स्वयंसेवक सत्याग्रह कर कांग्रेस के बैनर पर ही जेल गये !

राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ शाखा चलाने के अलावा अनेक क्षेत्रों में भी काम करता हैं। निस्वार्थ भाव एवं लगन के कारण ऐसे सब कार्यां ने उस क्षेत्र में अपनी एक अलग व अग्रणी पहचान बनाई है। संस्कृत भाषा के प्रति जागृति लाने हेतु विभिन्न संस्थाएं प्रयासरत हैं ! पूरी दुनिया को पांच क्षेत्रों (अमरीका, यूरोप, आस्ट्रेलिया, अफ्रीका तथा एशिया) में बांटकर, जिन देशों में हिन्दू हैं, वहां साप्ताहिक,मासिक या उत्सवों में मिलन के माध्यम से काम हो रहा है ! भारत के वनों व पर्वतों में रहने वाले हिन्दुओं को अंग्रेजों ने आदिवासी कहकर शेष हिन्दू समाज से अलग करने का षड्यन्त्र किया ! दुर्भाग्य से आजादी के बाद भी यही गलत शब्द प्रयोग जारी है ! ये वही वीर लोग हैं, जिन्होंने विदेशी मुगलों तथा अंग्रेजों से टक्कर ली है; पर वन-पर्वतों में रहने के कारण वे विकास की धारा से दूर रहे गये ! इनके बीच स्वयंसेवक ‘वनवासी कल्याण आश्रम’ नामक संस्था बनाकर काम करते हैं ! इसकी 29 प्रान्तों में 214 से अधिक इकाइयां हैं ! इनके द्वारा शिक्षा, चिकित्सा, खेलकूद और हस्तशिल्प प्रशिक्षण आदि के काम चलाये जाते हैं ! ज्ञातव्य है कि दिल्ली में अभी हाल में ही संपन्न हुए “कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स – 2010″ में ट्रैक फील्ड में पहला पदक और एसियन गेम्स में.10,000 मीटर में सिल्वर पदक , 5,000 मीटर में कांस्य पदक जीतने वाली “कविता राऊत ” वनवासी कल्याण आश्रम संस्था से ही निकली हैं !

संघ का कार्य केवल पुरुष वर्ग के बीच चलता है; पर उसकी प्रेरणा से महिला वर्ग में ‘राष्ट्र सेविका समिति’ काम करती है ! इस समय देश में उसकी 5,000 से अधिक शाखाएं हैं ! इसके साथ ही समिति 750 सेवाकार्य भी चलाती है ! ‘क्रीड़ा भारती’ निर्धन, वनवासी व ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में छिपी हुई प्रतिभाओं को सामने लाने का प्रयास कर रही है ! धर्मान्तरण के षड्यन्त्रों को विफल करने के लिए धर्म जागरण के प्रयासों के अन्तर्गत 110 से अधिक जाति समूहों में सेवा कार्य प्रारम्भ किया गया है ! सेवा के कार्य में ‘दीनदयाल शोध संस्थान’ भी लगा है ! गोंडा एवं चित्रकूट का प्रकल्प इस नाते उल्लेखनीय है ! राजनीतिक क्षेत्र में ‘भारतीय जनता पार्टी’ की छह राज्यों में अपनी तथा तीन में गठबंधन सरकार है ! समाज के प्रबुद्ध तथा सम्पन्न वर्ग की शक्ति को आरोग्य सम्पन्न, आर्थिक रूप से स्वावलम्बी तथा समर्थ भारत के निर्माण में लगाने के लिए ‘भारत विकास परिषद’ काम करती है ! परिषद द्वारा संचालित देशभक्ति समूह गान प्रतियोगिता तथा विकलांग सहायता योजना ने पूरे देश में एक विशेष पहचान बनायी है ! इसके अतिरिक्त परिषद के 1545 से अधिक सेवा कार्य भी चला रही है ! 1975 के बाद से संघ प्रेरित संगठनों ने सेवा कार्य को प्रमुखता से अपनाया है ! ‘राष्ट्रीय सेवा भारती’ के बैनर के नीचे इस समय लगभग 400 से अधिक संस्थाएं काम कर रही हैं ! विकलांगों में कार्यरत‘सक्षम’ नामक संस्था की 102 से अधिक नगरों में बड़े जोर – शोर से लगी है ! नेत्र सेवा के क्षेत्र में इसका कार्य उल्लेखनीय है !

आयुर्वेद तथा अन्य विधाओं के चिकित्सकों को ‘आरोग्य भारती’ के माध्यम से संगठित किया गया है ! ‘नैशनल मैडिकोज आर्गनाइजेशन’ द्वारा ऐसे ही प्रयास एलोपैथी चिकित्सकों को संगठित कर किये जा रहे हैं ! ‘चाहे जो मजबूरी हो, मांग हमारी पूरी हो’ के स्थान पर ‘देश के हित में करेंगे काम, काम के लेंगे पूरे दाम’ की अलख जगाने वाले ‘भारतीय मजदूर संघ’ का देश के सभी राज्यों के 550 जिलों में काम है ! अब धीरे-धीरे असंगठित मजदूरों के क्षेत्र में भी कदम बढ़ रहे हैं ! ‘भारतीय किसान संघ’ ने बी.टी बैंगन के विरुद्ध हुई लड़ाई में सफलता पाई ! ‘स्वदेशी जागरण मंच’ का विचार केवल भारत में ही नहीं, तो विश्व भर में स्वीकार्य होने से विश्व व्यापार संगठन मृत्यु की ओर अग्रसर है ! मंच के प्रयास से खुदरा व्यापार में एक अमरीकी कंपनी का प्रवेश को रोका गया तथा जगन्नाथ मंदिर की भूमि वेदांता वि0वि0 को देने का षड्यन्त्र विफल किया गया ! ग्राहक जागरण को समर्पित‘ग्राहक पंचायत’ का काम भी 135 से अधिक जिलों में पहुंच गया है ! इसके द्वारा 24 दिसम्बर को ग्राहक दिवस तथा 15 मार्च को क्रय निषेध दिवस के रूप मनाया जाता है ! ‘सहकार भारती’ के 680से अधिक तहसीलों में 20 लाख से ज्यादा सदस्य हैं ! इसके माध्यम से मांस उद्योग को 30 प्रतिशत सरकारी सहायता बंद करायी गयी ! अब सहकारी क्षेत्र को करमुक्त कराने के प्रयास जारी हैं ! ‘लघु उद्योग भारती’ मध्यम श्रेणी के उद्योगों का संगठन है ! इसकी 26 प्रांतों में 100 से ज्यादा इकाइयां हैं।

शिक्षा क्षेत्र में ‘विद्या भारती’ द्वारा 15,000 से अधिक विद्यालय चलाये जा रहे हैं, जिनमें लाखों आचार्य करोड़ों शिक्षार्थियों को पढ़ा रहे हैं ! शिक्षा बचाओ आंदोलन द्वारा पाठ्य पुस्तकों में से वे अंश निकलवाये गये, जिनमें देश एवं धर्म के लिए बलिदान हुए हुतात्माओं के लिए अभद्र विशेषण प्रयोग किये गये थे ! ‘अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद’ का 5,604 से अधिक महाविद्यालयों में काम है ! इसके माध्यम से शिक्षा के व्यापारीकरण के विरुद्ध व्यापक जागरण किया जाता है !‘भारतीय शिक्षण मंडल’शिक्षा में भारतीयता संबंधी विषयों को लाने के लिए प्रयासरत है ! सभी स्तर के 7.5 लाख से अधिक अध्यापकों की सदस्यता वाले‘शैक्षिक महासंघ’ में लगभग सभी राज्यों केलगभग विश्वविद्यालयों के शिक्षक जुड़े हैं। स्वामी विवेकानंद के विचारों के प्रसार के लिए कार्यरत ‘विवेकानंद केन्द्र,कन्याकुमारी’ ने स्वामी जी की 150 वीं जयन्ती 12 जनवरी, 2013 से एक वर्ष तक भारत जागो, विश्व जगाओ अभियान चलाने का निश्चय किया है ! पूर्वोत्तर भारत में इस संस्था के माध्यम से शिक्षा एवं सेवा के विविध प्रकल्प चलाये जाते हैं !

‘विश्व हिन्दू परिषद’ जहां एक ओर श्रीराम जन्मभूमि आंदोलन के माध्यम से देश में हिन्दू जागरण की लहर उत्पन्न करने में सफल हुआ है, वहां 36,609 से अधिक सेवा कार्यों के माध्यम से निर्धन एवं निर्बल वर्ग के बीच भी पहुंचा है ! इनमें शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, स्वालम्बन तथा सामाजिक समरसता की वृद्धि के कार्य प्रमुख रूप से चलाये जाते हैं ! “एकल विद्यालय” योजना द्वारा साक्षरता के लिए हो रहे प्रयास उल्लेखनीय हैं ! बजरंग दल, दुर्गा वाहिनी, गोसेवा, धर्म प्रसार, संस्कृत प्रचार, सत्संग, वेद शिक्षा, मठ-मंदिर सुरक्षा आदि विविध आयामों के माध्यम से परिषद विश्व में हिन्दुओं का अग्रणी संगठन बन गया है !

पूर्व सैनिकों की क्षमता का समाज की सेवा में उपयोग हो, इसके लिए ‘पूर्व सैनिक सेवा परिषद’ तथा सीमाओं के निकटवर्ती क्षेत्रों में सजगता बढ़ाने के लिए ‘सीमा जागरण मंच’ सक्रिय है ! कलाकारों को संगठित करने वाली ‘संस्कार भारती’ का 50 प्रतिशत से अधिक जिलों में पहुच है ! अपने गौरवशाली इतिहास को सम्मुख लाने का प्रयास ‘भारतीय इतिहास संकलन समिति’ कर रही है ! इसी प्रकार विज्ञान भारती, अखिल भारतीय साहित्य परिषद, राष्ट्रीय सिख संगत, अधिवक्ता परिषद, प्रज्ञा प्रवाह आदि अनेक संगठन अपने-अपने क्षेत्र में राष्ट्रीयता के भाव को पुष्ट करने में लगे हैं !

इस प्रकार स्वयंसेवकों द्वारा चलाये जा रहे सैकड़ों छोटे-बड़े संगठन और संस्थाओं द्वारा देश के नागरिको को देशभक्ति का पाठ पढाया जा रहा है परिणामतः देश भर में लोग सरकार की कारगुजारियों के खिलाफ अपनी आवाज बुलंद करते है जिससे सरकार की किरकिरी होती है ! इसलिए सरकार के मंत्री और कांग्रेसी नेता राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ जैसा देशभक्त संगठन को बदनाम करने की नाकाम कोशिश मात्र अपनी राजनैतिक रोटी सेंकते है इससे ज्यादा कुछ नहीं ! 1925 में डा0 केशव बलिराम हेडगेवार द्वारा संघ रूपी जो बीज बोया गया था, वह अब एक विराट वृक्ष बन चुका है ! अब न उसकी उपेक्षा संभव है और न दमन अतः इस मुगालते में किसी को नहीं रहना चाहिए !
