A landmark decision

In a landmark decision,  Kendriya Sanatana Dharma Sabha decided to conduct a campaign against female foeticide through Hindu Temple’s.

On 22nd Feb., 2011, a meeting of office bearer’s of Sanatana Dharma Sabha as well as priest’s of various Hindu Temple’s held at Gurgaon in Haryana. In this meeting it was decided to create awareness in the Hindu society about the consequences of Female Foeticide through various women organisactions or Mahila Mandal’s  working in Temple’s.

It was in 1994, first legislation for preventing female foeticide passed in India - Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection Act), 1994 (PCPNDT Act). But in spite of all these, number of girl child decreases in ever year.

Situation in some Indian states like, Haryana, Punjab etc is very alarming. If this tendency of female foeticide is not arrested, it will seriously effect the social fabric of Haryana and Punjab.

According to various reports, due to lack of bride’s in Haryana, boys are marrying girls from far away places like, Orissa, Bengal, Kerala etc
