RSS call to fight corruption, contain China

Ramu Bhagwat, TNN | Mar 17, 2011

NAGPUR: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at its annual meeting of representatives from across country has given a call for a decisive action against corruption. It has also sounded alert on the grave threat that China poses to India both militarily and economically.

The three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) that concluded at Puttur in Karnataka on Sunday took stock of the social, political and economical situation in the country through the reports presented by the Sangh Parivar representatives. It passed two resolutions.

The meeting also deliberated on the campaign by the RSS to sensitize people on "Congress conspiracy on coining the term Hindu-saffron terror". Around 10 crore people were covered by the door-to-door campaign, western region in-charge of RSS Ravindra Joshi told media on Wednesday while briefing on ABPS meeting.

Of the two resolutions passed, the first called for a "Need for a decisive blow against corruption". Noting with concern that incidents of widespread corruption had surfaced in the country, it blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for protecting his guilty colleagues by describing them as innocent in spite of strong evidence against them.

"Unfortunately, influence of politics is growing and incidents of people in power indulging in corruption are on the rise. Whether its shares scandal of 1992 or 2G spectrum scam now, mind boggling sums are involved. Highly educated people from affluent class of the society are engaged in these acts of corruption," the resolution noted. It has recommended value-based and morally strong conduct rooted in dharma as a means to end the scourge. Transparency in governance and electoral reforms were essential to tackle the problem, Joshi said.

On the second resolution concerning China's dangerous expansionist designs, Joshi said India had failed to draw any lessons from the Sino-Indian war of 1962 and the UPA government had failed to respond to aggressive and intimidating tactics of China seen in border violations in north-eastern states. On the other hand, China's ties with Pakistan were only getting stronger. China had used this to deploy 10,000 Chinese Army personnel in PoK, RSS alleged. It said the government had also failed to check influx of Chinese goods in Indian market that were affecting Indian industry and trade. The resolution called for a public boycott of Chinese goods.

In his report read out at the meeting, RSS general secretary Suresh (Bhayyaji) Joshi summed up the Sangh activities during the year and issued an appeal that stressed on "increasing velocity and strength of the Sangh activities in a sustained manner in view of the new challenges and people's expectations. It called for strengthening the organization and increasing strength of 'karyakartas'.
