THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against 24 accused persons for indoctrinating Kerala youth and taking them to Kashmir for terror training.

K V Abdul Jaleel, activist of the ultra Islamic outfit National Democratic Front is the main accused. Pak national Wali Abdul Azeez and Laskhar activist Sarfraz Nawaz are also accused in the case which came to light in October 2008 after four Malayalee youth were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu & Kashmir. The encounter took place when the four were trying to cross the Line of Control and sneak into Pakistan.

In December 2010, the NIA had disclosed that Abdul Rehman Alias Wali, a Pakistani national from PoK, had masterminded the recruitment of Keralites for carrying out terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir two years ago. The agency made this disclosure in a statement submitted to the Kerala High Court while opposing the bail petition of C E Abdul Hameed, another accused in the Kashmir recruitment case.

The statement filed by the NIA in the high court also revealed that Wali had arranged funds for anti-national activities in India and that his reach extended down South. Wali's links were established by the interrogation of some of the accused who were in custody.
